OH WHAT A MISS. WHAT A MISS. I can’t believe he’s missed this. Rashford… has just wasted an easy, easy, easy header inside six yards, completely unmarked, after a brilliant cross from Fernandes following a quick passing move. Why does he keep missing chances like that?! He’d be such a good player and would finish every season with about 20 goals.

Here we go! United get the game started.

Here come the players

No fans in the stadium so more fake crowd noise today. I’m really interested to see how United line up.

Solskjaer says Bailly is playing centre-back

Still not sure this is true, even though OGS has confirmed it:

“Eric is playing centre-back, he did really well against Everton, he’s been out a little while but now we can see what he can do.”

If that is the case then I think Dan James is right wing-back, which definitely isn’t his position. Otherwise Lindelof could be right-back?

The battle of the 10s

Bruno Fernandes runs the show for Man Utd while James Maddison is the creative spark in the Leicester team. BUT WHICH IS BETTER?!

Not really a contest. Fernandes is more involved in general play, produces far more in terms of chances, goals and assists, and even contributes more defensively. He is the kind of player that can win a game on his own but who influences entire matches every time he plays. Maddison, for me, is a decent attacking midfielder with a great highlights reel. Needs to have more of an impact every week to improve from his current level.

Starting lineups

This is how the teams line up today:

It’s not entirely clear what United’s shape is. Wan-Bissaka is out today and Bailly is in. He can play at full-back and Brendan Rodgers has just revealed that Leicester are anticipating exactly this, rather than a switch to a defensive three and wing-backs.

Boxing Day football

Hello there! I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and enjoy yourselves tremendously today. This game should provide us with a bit of entertainment, and if you are lucky enough to be with family and friends, a little respite from the constant small (or normal) talk you’ve been wilfully subjected to!

Brendan Rodgers did his small talk earlier in the week in conversation with some journalists. The poor man. This is what he said about Man Utd:

“There’s sometimes a narrative around Manchester United, the big clubs have huge expectations, if you lose a game it’s a disaster.

“They will be disappointed going out of the Champions League because the history has been built on the great successes they’ve had in Europe but we’re not even half way, they have played 13 games and they are a club who are expected to be up there. It’s a long season.

“It’s not easy but what you have to do is filter all the negativity and narrative that may be there and throw it away. You don’t let it get in. I’m pretty sure whatever noise there is Ole seems very focused. You know with him there he wants the best for Manchester United.

“You have a genuine Manchester United man and he wants to get the club returned to its values and the level of winning they are used to.

“They have someone there who has been in that situation as a player who is looking to take that back as a manager.

“He also knows it’s going to take time because he worked with the best in Sir Alex Ferguson and for Sir Alex it took a bit of time because you’re giving young players opportunities.

“You regulate it, you know there is pressure there – it’s just what level it comes at you and you will find your own ways.”

We’ll find out how Leicester get on in a short while. Kick off is 12:30pm, the game is on BT Sport 1 and you can follow the game along with me right here. Lovely stuff.
